Golf NSW’s Lunch Time Launch It program made its debut at St Mary MacKillop College recently, with a two-day activation reaching around 500 students and recording approximately 700 strikes on a Rapsodo launch monitor.
Set up across the school gymnasium, the activation featured chipping stations, bucket golf and putting challenges catering to students of all abilities. The Rapsodo launch monitor ran throughout scheduled PE classes and lunch periods, giving students the chance to track their shots using golf technology, with students lining up out the door during lunch breaks to take part.

Eight PE classes participated in dedicated one-hour sessions across the two days, with the activation also timed to coincide with the school’s Transition Day, giving incoming Grade 6 students their first experience of golf ahead of starting secondary school.

After the students headed home, teachers held their own in-house competition, rounding out what was a lively two days for the college community.
What stood out across the visit was the golfing culture already taking shape at St Mary MacKillop, with a number of students already competing at an elite level.
The school is now planning to take students to Murray Downs Golf and Country Club as a follow-up, building on the momentum from the program’s first visit.
